Now The Sacramento Bee can be delivered electronically to your classroom. The electronic edition, or “e-edition,” of The Bee has the same news, sports, features, business and entertainment as the printed edition, except without the inky fingers. It’s an electronic version of the newspaper -- an exact digital replica of the printed edition -- that you can view on any computer. It’s easy to use and it’s delivered fresh to your email inbox. Best of all, it’s available to you and your students at no cost, thanks to the generous support of our subscribers and business partners. Go to http://guide.sacbee.com/125/story/23.html or visit our website at www.solanoreader.org and click “In the News” for The Sacramento Bee link.
The Reporter invites you to participate in the NIE e-edition. Check out NIE e-edition at http://nieonline.com/thereporter for access to The Reporter with grade level appropriate lessons. This is a great way to be “green”. To be a teacher/subscriber call The Reporter at 707-453-8177 or sign up online at or email nie@thereporter.com.
By offering the newspaper in e-editions we hope to address some of the environmental concerns by accomplishing the following -
Saving the paper that is used in producing the newspaper, thereby saving more trees
Saving the fuel now used for delivery of newspapers, thereby resulting in fewer carbon emissions
Reducing the waste of left over newspapers, so there will be less to dispose of at the schools
In addition, there are many benefits to teachers, some of which are -
Convenience - teachers can click on link from any computer
Better selection - teachers can print only the articles, ads, or sections that are needed
The program enhances computer literacy skills
Festival of Trees - 2007
Once again we have donated a Christmas tree to the Festival of Trees.
This year's theme is "Read to me, Read with me".
Little books, pictures of people reading to children, and a garland of ABC beads decorate this tree.
Books and stuffed animals surround the bottom of the tree to encourage the buyer to snuggle up with a child and read to them, read with them!
Anyone with ideas for next year? Please submit them to anyone on our Board of Directors!
Festival of Trees - 2006
SCRA Joins in the Spirit of Giving at the 2006 Festival of Trees in Vacaville
SCRA members joined forces and combined their creative talents to support the 2006 Festival of the Trees event by decorating the "Madeline" Mini Tree. The "Madeline" tree was based upon the book by Ludwig Bemelmans. We are proud to be part of this fund raising effort benefiting Opportunity House, Vacaville's Homeless Shelter.
